Customs and paperwork after Brexit

Since Brexit, moving personal belongings between the UK and the EU involves more documentation than it used to. We guide you through what is needed so nothing holds up your move. For most moves to the EU you will need a detailed inventory of everything being shipped, a copy of your passport, and proof of your move such as a residence permit, rental agreement or employment contract to claim duty-free entry of personal effects. We prepare the inventory with you during the survey and make sure the rest is in order before we travel.

Every international move we carry out is fully insured in transit, including CMR cover, which is the recognised standard for road transport across Europe. Your belongings are protected from the moment we load them to the moment they are delivered. We talk you through the cover before we start so you know exactly where you stand.

Dedicated and shared moves

You can choose how you move. A dedicated load means our vehicle carries your belongings only, with the fastest and most direct delivery. A shared load, sometimes called a part load, means your items travel alongside others heading to the same region, which costs less but takes a little longer. We will explain both options and recommend the best fit for your budget and timescale.

How long does an international move take?

A dedicated move from Oxford to France typically takes two to four days from collection to delivery, depending on your exact destination. Shared loads take longer because we coordinate several pickups and drop-offs in the same area, usually around one to two weeks. We give you a clear timescale before you book and keep you updated along the way.
